In its simplest form the list dataset uses a separate column for each variable, a separate row for each case or subject, and a single row of headers for the names of the variables.
EXAMPLE The list dataset below contains 5 variables: ID, Sex, Drug, Before and After. The variable names are placed in the first row of the dataset, with observations for each variable in the column below.
