Statistical Process Control Software for Microsoft Excel
Variable and attribute control charts, process capability, and Pareto analysis — a complete SPC toolkit inside the Excel your team already uses.

Trusted by 75,000 researchers, analysts, and scientists at leading universities, hospitals, and companies worldwide — for over 30 years.
Every control chart you need, in one place
Shewhart variable charts (Xbar-R, Xbar-S, I-MR, and more), attribute charts (p, np, c, u), and time-weighted charts (CUSUM, EWMA, UWMA) — all available in a single package. Apply WECO, Nelson, or Montgomery rules to detect out-of-control situations automatically. Use phases to track performance before and after process changes, and stratification to spot patterns and contributing factors that aggregate charts would hide.
Know whether your process is capable of meeting specifications
Control charts tell you whether a process is stable. Process capability indices (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk, Cpm) tell you whether it’s capable of meeting end-user specifications. Both are in the same package. When data is non-normal, Box-Cox and other transformations bring it into line. Z-benchmarks and nonconforming unit estimates complete the picture for Six Sigma programmes.
SPC inside Excel — no new tools, no learning curve
Analyse-it integrates directly into Microsoft Excel 2007 through to Microsoft 365. Import data from instruments or production systems, run control charts immediately, and generate publication-ready reports without leaving the environment your team already works in. All charts and results stay in Excel workbooks, making it straightforward to share with colleagues and store in existing quality systems.
Most SPC software is designed for dedicated quality engineers who spend their days in the tool. That’s fine if you’re one of them — but most people doing process control also manage other responsibilities, use Excel for everything else, and can’t justify the time or cost of learning Minitab for occasional use.
Analyse-it brings the full SPC toolkit into Excel without the enterprise price tag or the steep learning curve. You get the same chart types and detection rules that dedicated SPC tools offer — Shewhart variable and attribute charts, CUSUM and EWMA for detecting small shifts, WECO and Nelson rules, process capability indices — together with Pareto analysis to identify where to focus improvement efforts, all inside the spreadsheet environment your team already uses daily.
Because Analyse-it is an Excel add-in, there’s no separate database to maintain, no proprietary file format to worry about, and no need for IT to install and manage a standalone quality system. Your data stays in Excel workbooks, which means anyone on the team can open a chart, anyone in management can receive a report, and sharing with external auditors or customers is as simple as sending a file.
What's included
-
Variable control charts
Shewhart Xbar-R, Xbar-S, Xbar, R, S, I-MR, I, and MR charts for continuous measurement data. Apply WECO, Nelson, or Montgomery detection rules to identify out-of-control situations. Use phases to compare before-and-after performance when changes are made, and stratification by operator, shift, machine, or any factor to identify contributing sources of variation.
-
Attribute control charts
Shewhart p, np, c, and u charts for defective items, defects per unit, or counts data. Use the same detection rules and phasing capabilities available for variable charts. Appropriate for pass/fail inspection data, complaint counts, and other discrete quality characteristics.
-
Time-weighted control charts
CUSUM (cumulative sum), EWMA (exponentially weighted moving average), and UWMA (uniformly weighted moving average) charts for detecting small, sustained shifts in process mean that Shewhart charts are less sensitive to. Particularly useful in processes where small drifts accumulate into significant problems.
-
Process capability analysis
Capability indices Cp, Cpl, Cpu, Cpk, and Cpm alongside performance indices Pp, Ppl, Ppu, and Ppk. Z-benchmark and nonconforming unit estimation for Six Sigma programmes. Histogram with specification limits and normal Q-Q plot for assessing distributional assumptions. Box-Cox and other transformations for non-normal data.
-
Pareto analysis
Pareto charts to identify the most frequently occurring defects and prioritise improvement effort. One-way and two-way comparative Pareto charts to analyse by a second factor such as operator, shift, or product line. Merge, reorder, and colour bars to highlight the most important categories.
-
Integrated into Microsoft Excel
Runs inside Excel 2007 through to Microsoft 365. All data and results stay in Excel workbooks — no locked-in file formats, no proprietary database. Share charts and reports with anyone who has Excel, without requiring them to have Analyse-it installed.
