No. Analyse-it does not auto-renew and we will never charge you automatically. Annual licences, perpetual licences, and maintenance renewals all require you to place an order — nothing is charged without your explicit action.
We send an email reminder before your licence or maintenance expires so you have time to renew, but the decision is always yours.
Annual licences let you use the software for one year. You receive all updates during that year. When the licence expires, you renew to continue using the software. Renewal is not automatic — we send a reminder before expiry so you can renew when you're ready.
Perpetual licences are a one-time purchase that lets you use the software indefinitely. The licence includes one year of maintenance, which gives you all software updates. After that first year, you can renew maintenance to keep getting updates, or let it lapse and continue using the version you have.
For most users, annual is simpler and less expensive. A perpetual licence makes sense if your organisation's procurement requires a one-time purchase rather than a recurring subscription.
Per-user licences are assigned to a named individual. Each user can install the software on up to two computers — typically a desktop and a laptop — but only they can use it. No internet connection is needed to use the software day-to-day.
Floating licences are shared across a pool of users. You install the software on as many computers as you like, and licences are allocated automatically when someone opens Analyse-it. When they close it, the licence is released for another user. The number of floating licences determines how many people can use the software at the same time.
Per-user licences are less expensive and guarantee access. Floating licences are more cost-effective when many people need occasional access but not all at once. Floating licences require an internet connection for licence management.
It depends on the type of analysis you do. Here's a brief guide:
Every edition includes all the capabilities of the Standard edition. If you're unsure, the edition comparison shows exactly what's in each, or contact us and we'll recommend the right one for your work.
Yes. You can cross-grade to a different edition at any time and only pay the difference in price. See upgrades for current pricing.
Yes. When you buy additional licences, the price is discounted so you pay the same total as if you had bought all the licences at once. See additional licences.
Analyse-it requires Microsoft Excel for Windows. It is not available for macOS.
Analyse-it is a COM add-in — a type of extension that integrates deeply into Excel's interface and calculation engine. Microsoft Excel for Mac does not support COM add-ins, so there is no way to run Analyse-it natively on macOS. This is a limitation of Microsoft's Excel for Mac architecture, not something we're able to work around.
If you use a Mac, you can run Analyse-it through Windows using virtualisation software such as Parallels Desktop or a virtual machine. Several of our customers use this approach successfully.
No. Analyse-it requires the desktop-installed version of Microsoft Excel for Windows. It is not compatible with Excel Online (the browser-based version) or Excel for the web.
If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, you have the desktop version of Excel — that's the one Analyse-it works with. The subscription just determines how Excel is licensed, not where it runs.
The trial gives you access to all features in all editions — Standard, Medical, Quality Control, Method Validation, and Ultimate — for the duration of the trial period.
There are two limitations during the trial: analysis reports include a watermark, and results and charts are locked so they cannot be copied out of the workbook. Both limitations are removed when you purchase a licence.
The trial lasts 15 days from the date you activate it.
No. The trial is free and requires no payment information. You will not be charged when the trial expires.
When the trial expires, Analyse-it stops running in Excel. Your data is unaffected — it's all in your Excel workbooks, which are standard .xlsx files and remain fully accessible with or without Analyse-it.
If you'd like to continue using Analyse-it, you can purchase a licence from the pricing page.
The trial cannot be extended or renewed. If you need more time to evaluate Analyse-it for a specific project or procurement decision, contact us and we can discuss your situation.

Maintenance gives you all software updates — major releases, new features, improvements, bug fixes, and support for the latest versions of Microsoft Excel — plus priority technical support.
If you have an annual licence, maintenance is included for the duration of the licence. If you have a perpetual licence, one year of maintenance is included with the purchase, and you can renew it annually or for three years at a time.
Renewing before maintenance expires (or within 45 days of expiry) costs 10% of the current licence price. This is the best rate — renewing on time keeps the cost low.
If maintenance has lapsed, the renewal cost increases the longer it has been expired. You can check the exact renewal price for your licence on the maintenance page.
If you have a perpetual licence, you can continue using the software indefinitely — you just won't receive updates released after your maintenance expired. You'll keep access to every version released during your maintenance period.
You can renew maintenance at any time to start receiving updates again.
Yes. We send an email reminder 30 days before expiry and again a few days before, so you have time to renew at the best rate.
No. Early renewal extends your expiry date from whenever it currently falls, not from the date you pay. If your maintenance expires in three months and you renew for one year, your new expiry date is 15 months from now.
Analyse-it requires:
Yes. Each per-user licence lets you install the software on up to two computers — for example, a desktop at work and a laptop for when you're away from the office. Both installations must be used by the same person.
This does not apply to floating licences, which can be installed on any number of computers.
First, deactivate or uninstall Analyse-it on the old computer. Then install it on the new computer and enter your product key. The administrator's guide has step-by-step instructions.
If you no longer have access to the old computer, contact support and we can reset your activation.
Yes. You can download and reinstall the software as many times as you need from the download page. Your product key remains valid.
If the Analyse-it tab doesn't appear in Excel's ribbon, download and run the troubleshooting utility. It will attempt to fix common problems and gather diagnostics. If the problem persists, the utility can send a diagnostic report to our support team automatically.
No. All statistical computation happens locally in Excel on your computer. Your data never leaves your workbook. Analyse-it does not transmit, upload, or store any of your data.
The only network communication is for licence activation, software update checks, and optional error reporting — none of which involve your data.
Yes. We are PCI DSS compliant and use Braintree (a PayPal company) for all payment processing. We do not store credit card information on our servers — your details are never held by us.
Nothing changes. Your data lives in standard Excel workbooks (.xlsx files) that are fully accessible with or without Analyse-it installed. Analysis output that Analyse-it has placed on worksheets remains as static content in the workbook — you can still view, copy, and use it. You just won't be able to create new analyses or recalculate existing ones without an active licence.
Yes. Analyse-it is off-the-shelf software (GAMP 5 Category 3), so validation responsibility lies with the user organisation — as it does for all commercial software used in regulated work. We provide resources to support your validation effort.
For details of our development lifecycle, testing approach, and available validation resources, see development and validation.
You can verify statistical accuracy by running our NIST StRD benchmark workbooks, which test Analyse-it's results against independently certified reference values from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology. This provides documented evidence that the software is producing correct results on your system.
We use thousands of internal tests covering every statistical procedure across a wide range of data conditions, edge cases, and sample sizes.
For accuracy the statistical procedures are tested against the NIST Statistical Reference Datasets (StRD), which are independently certified reference values maintained by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology. You can review the results on our NIST StRD benchmarks page.
Analyse-it is used by laboratories and manufacturers working under a range of regulatory and accreditation frameworks, including:
The Method Validation edition includes support for 11 CLSI evaluation protocols (EP05, EP06, EP09, EP15, EP17, EP28, and others) that are commonly referenced in these frameworks.
21 CFR Part 11 addresses electronic records and electronic signatures — requirements that are primarily the responsibility of the organisation's quality management system, IT infrastructure, and procedures, rather than individual software tools.
Analyse-it produces analysis output as content within Excel workbooks. How those workbooks are managed, signed, and stored is governed by your organisation's SOPs and document management system. Analyse-it does not itself provide electronic signature or audit trail functionality, but its output integrates into whatever document control system you use.
